The 1954/55 season was the last year of the Detroit Red Wing dynasty with the Montreal Canadiens beginning their dynasty in the 1955/56 season. In 1955 the Wings and the Canadiens were two well balanced teams with the Wings pulling off a 3 - 1 victory over the Canadiens in game 7 of the final to win the Stanley Cup.
