I frequently seem to space out in class and miss some information. I've had this all my school life, and oddly enough it only happens in school! I can't allow this to happen when I attend College.

Should I go see a doctor and subscribe for some medication or what?

Hey dude, everyone spaced out a bit when they were in school; it's just a normal by-product of keeping a healthy, curious, rambunctious young man locked up in a classroom for 6 hours a day. Besides, a true problem with ADD involves alot more than what you described; there is also hyper-activity and inappropriate behavior involved. If you've gotten this far in school and are thnking of college, chances are you don NOT have ADD. it is probably the most OVER-diagnosed mental illness around these days--along with BiPolar Disorder. So I would not worry about it if I were you. Just tell yourself to stay a bit more focused during those boring lectures. And don't forget to have fun!

Doesn't sound like ADD to me. You might be stressed and having a hard time concentrating in class. I think most people have a hard time listening to lectures. Maybe it's the way you learn. Do you remember better if you are doing something or reading it or hearing it? Maybe you need to take notes so that you see the subject. Maybe you need to not take notes so you can concentrate on hearing the subject. Or maybe you need to fiddle with your pen or doodle so you can be doing something and pick it up that way. Or maybe the teachers remind you of somebody you don't like and you are zoning them out. I don't think it's going to be too bad in college. College is a whole new environment and you have more opportunities to learn in different ways, and learn things you are really interested in.

ADD has quickly become an excuse to escape. Folks learn the behaviors to introduce fraudulent activity. Moreover--90% of all people experience the symptons of ADD for some unspecific length of time. Do it! See an MD. Go for a checkup, and tell the doctor.

Don't go running for prescription drugs to stop a little day-dreaming. Could be lots of things - maybe you should get more sleep. My husband daydreamed a lot - even through college and did just fine. Just make sure you study.

ADD is overrated. It seems like now a days everyone has ADD.

If you can't find an answer to research on how to focus durring appropriate times.
