a large grizzly is 1200-1500lbs

well, they are bears, but the average grizzly has about 750-1000 pounds on the average black bear, so i'd take a grizzly anyday. grizzlies are very very seldom less than 400 ounds, and blacks bears rarely weigh more than that. the average ranges are 150-400 for black bears, and 400-1500 for grizzlies. given the difference in size and muscle mass, it's no contest, also grizlies have much larger claws for their size, and are better built for fighting

Most likely the Grizzly Bear would win any encounter with a
Black Bear bacause of his larger size and heavier muscle
mass. I would not like to wrestle with either one.

Black bears are actually far grumpier than brown bears. A brown bear is more likely to remain even tempered than a black, or at least they have in my experience. Who would win depends on the nature of the fight. In an open field,the brown would, but in the forest, the black, who is more maneuverable and can climb better would hold its own.
