Absolutely, religion, and Americans individual choice of faith, is what's dividing this country.

No longer can neighbors debate issues, if they first have to state if they are "saved" or not. This should not be the base of any argument, or definition of an American citizen.

I believe there is no need to define limits on any influence. There only has to be an adherence to the words of the constitution, and refrain from redefining it to suit any political party that happens to be in the majority at a particular time.

There are total of 4 questions in here.

Answer for question #1: Yes politics had always been playing a big role in American politics, it's very obvious. For example, all of our pass presidents, all of them are religious, if not very religious. John F. Kennedy is the only Catholic president in the history, the dude got assassinated.

Answers for questions#2: We do not know. Politics have many different faces, they could be religous outside and rotten inside, we do not know. Politics could perform "magics" to the people and the people believe it. Example: Vietnam War? a ship got hit by the North Vietnamese and the whole nation went to war? that's rediculous.

Answer to question #3: Our father stated that there will be no official religions in this country. NO religious tests of any kinds could be apply to office holders. Absolutely this country went pretty bizzare after all lol, our founding fathers would be like wtf?? LOL!!!

Answer to question #4: We should not limites on any religous influence with politicians. Simply because that would limit the free practice of any kinds of religions, violate the personal rights of polictians. So just let them believe in whatever religions they want to, as long as they don't make us or force us to join that religion lol.

yes religion should definitely be kept out of politics and a limit should be put on money spent in our elections. it got the point now that only the rich have any say in our government. people are going to keep pushing religion until something bad comes from it. Hitler was pushing religion when he started his move and look what happened to the people then

Unfortunately religion plays a big part in politics and this totally is an insult to the great nation that our founding fathers created.

Are founding fathers are still rolling in their graves from the unconstitutional statement of "under god" in the pledge of allegiance and "in god we trust" on our money.

Then came the office of faith based initiatives, talk about a slap in the face of the endorsement of religion clause of the first amendment.

The 1st amendment forbids a state religion & guarantees religious freedom. It does not & was not intended to ban religious people from public life. Your suggestion would violate the 1st anendment by denying religious freedom as a requirement for public office.
You have the right to vote for or against a candidate if you agree or disagree with that person's philosophy.

Church and State, as insitutions, should be firmly divided. However, there IS a loophole, perfectly Constitutional, that if religion has influence in SOCIETY, that can show up in politicians and ulitmately in policy. ie you can't outlaw something because it goes against the Bible, however if a majority or a large plurality believes something should be outlawed, and their religious views enforce that, that does not go against secular government. Limiting religion in politics counts as repression.

We should continue to define the amount of limitations government can put on religions, not the other way around.

Yes, it is big influence! Religion is personal and beautiful, when you use it for political expediency you are making it another strategic move to get votes. It's horrible that they use the word of god to influence people to support them.

religion should play an even larger roll in American politics, that way the votes would actually be voting because of issues instead of anything else.
