Yes, I have a relative that has done it! You have to move out of the county you live in and establish residency, after that you file the paper work with the court. Believe she said he moved in with someone and that she didn't have his address. The court ordered her to place an ad in the paper stating it was a divorce notice and that he had until a certain date to contest it. She made sure that she put it in a paper he never read. After the date came & went, she was granted the divorce. This is in the US. I don't know about other countries.

If you have been split up for 2 or more years you can divorce but she will need to sign too.

if it is over 5 or 7 (Cant remember which) you can divorce without them knowing.

If there are kids involved i would suggest talking about the best way forward!

In the uk you can divorce after 2 years of living apart with the consent of the other party, or after 5 years of living apart without the other party's consent. I think it has to be published in particular papers though.

if you have been abandoned and the allotted amount of time has passed for it to be considered as such... then yes you can. Divorce notices will appear in the papers in their last known area of residentcy , hometowns etc... and they will run for 60/90 days (depends on where you live and if the rules have changed) --- see your lawyer!

No you have to serve papers against them and they have to sign it and send it back. That is of course if they want the divorce they can hold it back if they chose to be difficult. Good luck
