First of all, she divorced her husband over his lack of concern for the conditions slaves were kept in on his plantation. She also kept a diary of daily life on the plantation, detailing all of the suffering of slaves and their treatment. This diary was then published by the Abolitionist Society and circulated throughout the country. She became greatly in demand to give lectures, which she did all over the country. She also wrote articles against it.
