I have a 95 BMW 325i Convertible. Sometimes if I don't drive my car every day, my car won't start. It seems like it is getting worse b/c last time it only took not driving it for 20 hours and the battery was dead. I did not leave any lights on or anything, and the battery is only 2 years old. I took the battery out and had Shucks test it and it said it was good. I also had them check to see if the alternator is fine and it is. What else could be the problem?

Do you have a trunk light or glove box light that might be stuck on?

You need to bring it into a place that will do a battery drain test and see if an abnormal amount of current is coming from the battery at a time when all should be off. They can troubleshoot from that by pulling fuses till they locate the problem area.

If you really don't have anything on inside the car, such as a light in the glovebox, etc...then the only reason your car won't start is a dead battery. When the engine is running and the alternator is working properly, your battery is being charged. Therefore, your battery is being charged until the last second you turn off your engine. If only a short time passes by the time you try to restart your car and your battery is dead, then it is your battery. Have someone else besides Schnucks perform a battery drain test for you.

Some times if you sit in your car with the radio on for a long period of time, that will be enough to drain you battery. Or make it so low that when you finally get home and shut off your car for the night, the battery just dies.

Or it could be your alternator. The plugs might be gunked up or you may just need a new one.

I had a similar problem and we found a cable that was dragging and had been burned through. I would suggest changing the battery anyway or simply having your car looked at. There could be all kinds of things jacking up the electrical system to drain the battery.
