I would like to have a birthday party at a nice restaurant or bar in the Los Angeles area. Nothing to fancy but not to cheap either. I already have a DJ, but no location. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

I can't believe you used "inexpensive" and "Los Angeles" in the same sentence!

I think the first question you should ask is in what part of LA do you want to have this party and then based on that decision you can decide on an appropriate venue. If you're looking in the Hollywood area, Jones Bar on Santa Monica Blvd. near La Brea, is one of LA's classic bar/restaurants: the food is terrific and not too expensive, the bar scene is fantastic, with hot bartenders and awesome cocktails, the jukebox cranks out awesome rock n roll music, and here's the kicker - there's a decent sized room next to the main dining floor that is perfect for birthday parties under 40-50 people.

If you're looking for venues in other parts of Los Angeles, may I suggest checking out Yahoo local or city-search.

Oh I have the best place! Go to Benihana's , its not to expensive and they make the food right in front of your face, it is SO good. They specialize in parties, and they have large tables.

It's just like you requested, not to fancy, but not to cheap! If you go inside the restaurant, you will see SO many pictures of celebrities that have gone. I'm pretty sure there is a benihana's in LA, just check their website I've provided below. I think you'll really enjoy it and you get a free porcelain statue cup for your birthday!

As of the DJ thing, I don't know if they allow DJ's, so it might not work out in that aspect, but either way, have a great bday party! Or whoever it is for!

Since you have a DJ, I'm assuming that you'll need a dancefloor and that you're expecting a lot of guests.

I would recommend a restaurant that overlooks downtown Long Beach called The Reef. They have rooms that can accomodate small parties and large ones as well.

You can look at their banquet menus online.

When I lived in LA I always had my birthday at Hollywood Billiards in Hollywood. They always hooked me up with a deal of all you can drink beer wine and non-alcoholics for 2 hours @ $10 per person... there's a ton of room to spread out and you can reserve your own lounge. It's a really big facility and cheap. Call and ask for Kimmy Ward, because she books parties and special events. They're really negotiable on deals they can make for you. Have fun!

Well I don't know of a location, you can rent. But I do know that the century club, and the Grand have this birthday thing were you call in they reserve tables, give you tickets for free drinks. Its nice and you have a good time.

Playland at McDonald's is LOTS of fun, even for us adults.
