if he told you to your face and held your hand while speaking those words then he is probably serious, but always keep your eyes and ears open no matter how much love is in the air . you never know if temptation will knock on his door . just be happy and very aware how relationships end up sometimes!!

I hope this story answers your question.Peter was on the phone with Mary professing his love for her."I love you so much it hurts,I will do anything for you I will climb the highest mountain for you,oh mary,I'll die for you.Mary bought into it and asked peter to come over right away.peter got dressed put on his best sneakers and stepped out to pouring rain.he ccouldn't see himself walking in the rain to his car in his new sneakers and all.He got back in the house and called Mary to tell her it was rainning so hard he couldn't see to drive.
Love is shown through a set of deeds and actions not mere words.
Does he treat you like a lady, does he worry when you worry, does he light up when you walk into a room is he attentive to your needs,Is he honest?

Some may be and some may not be. You have to look at his other actions before you can determine if he means it or not. If he does other nice things for you and tells you other nice things then yes more then likely he means it.

It depends on the guy.
A good clue that he does mean it is if he lives for you, meaning if he does the little things, if he must have your opinion and wants to spend time with you, etc.

I'd be more impressed with someone who made OTHER people die for me.

No, it's romantic exaggeration and it's unoriginal. You could always call him on it. "You'll die for me? Cool, do it."
