It would not surprise me. I have heard Military officials say that they need more people.

I am not opposed to re-instating the draft, even in peace time. We had young men who were a lot more mature when they were alot more prepared for life.

Edit-

I am for the draft being re-instated, but only for men. If a women CHOOSES to enlist, let her, but lets please not force our women into the Military. Can we not respect women like society used to. You know in the day when a Man would stand up for a woman? remember those days? I have no problem with letting the men go out and shoot the guns and protect me. That is how it should be, that is how God intended it.

I am retired from the Army with 22 years service. I truly have to say no. The reason I say no is it would be political suicide for either political party to re institute the draft. The pay is up higher now than it has ever been before and getting better. There are a lot of incentives for both men and women to join. I feel the days of the draft and people like me who were subject to the draft are a part of this nations history. Rest easy !

I think Charles Rangel, who I consider a visionary, is just trying to make a point. In 2003 he said that the draft needed to be re-instated because we were going into a war and our troop strength would be affected. It seemed logical at the time. Now he is making the point that if we are to send more troops to Iraq, then it is necessary. If we keep out of other peoples business, there should be no need for the draft.

I don't think so. We already have a large fighting force in Iraq, and as long as nothing is stirred up in North Korea or the Middle East, we should be fine. I also hope not, cause I hit the draft around 2010, so I can only hope not

I would like to think that all our young men and women would have to serv at least 2 years in the armed forces. Many other countries do it. I know alot of young men and women who could use a good 2 yr kick in the butt to grow up. But I doubt we will ever see such a thing in this country.

Not unless we have a big big war break out.
The Military does not want a Draft, because they would be forced to accept a much lower class of people.
The Cream of the Crop enlists on their own.

properly, if we hit a significant melancholy (which we can at this fee) issues gets so not ordinary for the middle classification. With costly college training, costly healthcare and outsourced jobs this could entice people to connect that way. it relatively is unhappy.

No. In my opinion, the next president will be elected specifically to get us the hell out of Iraq.
