okay I know that everyone is saying that it is way too early for juice, but it won't hurt him. My pediatrician said so. Make sure that you get the Gerber juice since it is made for babies and only give him 5 or 6 ounces at a time, and maybe only once a day, since it is so early. My son just always wanted that extra and he wouldn't drink his formula or breastmilk so I tried the juice. Remember that formula is like their food, but babies get thirsty too. Make sure to cut your juice 1/4 juice and 3/4 water. Good luck

Now I am sure that these people are going to ridicule my answer, but my son was also on baby food at 10 weeks because he wasn't gaining weight properly ...he would eat ..just not gain.

Why would you be doing that? If your baby is constipated then they like you to start with pear because it is the most mild (diluted with water), but not more than an ounce or 2 at that age. Otherwise you should not feed a baby under 4-6 months anything other than formula or breastmilk.

I think its too early for juice. Diluting it is good. Stick with the milk. It helps with brain development(as per my ped). For babies under six months
Babies under six months should not be given juice. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Nutrition, "There is no nutritional indication to feed juice to infants younger than 6 months. Offering juice before solid foods are introduced into the diet could risk having juice replace breast milk or infant formula in the diet." The American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Breastfeeding notes: "During the first 6 months of age, even in hot climates, water and juice are unnecessary for breastfed infants and may introduce contaminants or allergens."

NO... babies do not know the difference between water , juice , cordial etc... you should never give babies or children sugar or salt when it is not needed juice is not good for small babys cooled boiled water only babies can have water from birth but breast fed babies don't usually require water as breast milk is always the right mix for them formula fed babies might need some in hot weather but formula is usually enough too. you will get to know what your baby wants more as it gets older but make sure there is not other things wrong like wet nappy etc.. before giving more food or it can lead to overfeeding

It's a little early to be giving your baby juice. But if you insist, use more water then you do apple juice. Like 2/3 Water, and 1/3 Juice.

Your baby cannot handle juice yet. It could hurt him. Babys especially that young aren't fully grown and food and drinks that are made for babys are not healthy or safe for them. Stick to formula or breastmilk. At 4-6 months they can start eating baby food and maybe juice. but don't push it and do anything that dcould harm him (i love questions like this because it is a responsible parent to ask first instead of try it.)
Good luck

NO! If you are trying to get rid of constipation, put a small amount of Karo syrup in the bottom of the baby's bottle. It will keep him/her regular. Start by putting it in every other bottle and use more/less often as needed. Good luck!

No, it is not.

A 5-week-old should eat/drink NOTHING but formula or breast milk.

If you are giving juice because you think your child is constipated, first check with your pediatrician to see if you actually have a constipation problem. (A breastfed child can go 6-10 days without pooping. And all young infants grunt and strain and go red in the face and pull their legs up when they go.)

it's really too early to give your baby juice, and even water.. there's sufficient water in their formula, especially if you breast feed.. you really don't have to start them on juice until they are like 6 months or older. becuase apple juice still has a lot of sugar in it so just wait until your baby gets older...
