If it's about the ban on Savation Army bell ringers, here's the story from the Associated Press, Wednesday, November 15, 2006:
"Target Giving $1M to Salvation Army, but Bell Ringers Still Banned
This will be the third year that Target has banned the bell-ringers from its stores. But Salvation Army spokeswoman Melissa Temme said other changes could make up much of the $9 million the charity used to raise each year in front of Target stores.
Besides the cash donation, Target will donate the profits from a $9.99 Salvation Army ornament that is hitting store shelves this week, Temme said. It will also put a link on its Web site to accept Salvation Army donations.
"We expect it to be successful. We don't know what to expect as far as the ultimate monetary gain," Temme said. "But we know that this will enable us to help more people simply because we'll be bringing in more money."
Target said it has "a long-standing relationship that includes providing financial resources for disaster relief, as well as supporting local chapters through grant and volunteer programs."
Target stopped allowing Salvation Army bell-ringers in 2004 to make its policy against fundraising at its stores consistent. It also wanted to spare shoppers the potential discomfort of being asked for donations."

I think it goes back to a patriotic ideal...Target will not let the Bell ringers from the Salvation Army. fund raise in front of their stores..they also would not let the Veteran's raise money outside their store on Veteran's day nor Memorial Day. It is rumored to be that Target is a French owned store. The French are believed to not support the Iraq war in any way along with no support for the United Nations. Now with all of this being said...I have no idea what is true in the above said statement and what is not true. Like I said this is just what I have heard over the last few days. I believe that there is an e-mail letter that is being passed along waging war on Target. All or some of this can be true or none of it can be true..keep in mind that this is stiff competition for all retailers and that they have been known to fight dirty...so don't believe everything that you hear. I have not yet done any research on the matter of Target being French owned...I am aware that they do not allow The Salvation Army or Veteran's fund raise on their property...I am not sure why though!!!
