You might try looking for them in the startup folder
do a search for startup and when you find it see if they are listed and then delete the programs you do not watn to automatically load. At least it worked for me.

From my experience, these are not the total solution. - have you noticed that your PC seems to take a while to boot up / down? More than it used to? Say before you added Norton AV?

It seems that some Norton products (just AV?) are pretty invasive and get all over the place in your registry. You can do worse than download a demo / free "registry optimiser" which will track down most, if not all, of the leftover bits and give you the option to remove them.

I used WinAso's "Registry Optimiser" and 3B software's "Windows Registry Repair Pro" and my machine is now MUCH faster and hardly ever hangs. I'm not endorsing these products - nor guaranteeing them. They worked for me - it's up to you...

Or you COULD, if you are very brave, try editing your registry... But I didn't tell you to do that...

How do I completely uninstall Symantec AntiVirus?
Problem: The solution to many problems with Symantec AntiVirus is to completely uninstall Symantec AntiVirus, then re-install. You can use these instructions to completely uninstall Symantec AntiVirus.

Solution: In order to completely uninstall Symantec AntiVirus and all related components you need to follow these instructions.
Note: This procedure will remove all Symantec products, not just Symantec AntiVirus.

Click on Start | Settings | Control Panel
In the control panel double-click on Add / Remove Programs
Look through the list of installed programs for any item that says either "Norton" or "Symantec" or "LiveUpdate". (for example "Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition" or "Norton AntiVirus 2000")
For each "Norton", "Symantec", or "LiveUpdate" item, select the item and click Add / Remove. Follow the instructions, and click Yes or Yes to all when prompted.
When you are done there should be no items in the list that say "Norton", "Symantec", or "LiveUpdate".
Click OK to close the Add / Remove Programs window.
Reboot your computer if it hasn't already automatically rebooted.
Delete the c:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus (or c:\Program Files\Norton) folder.
Delete the c:\Program Files\Symantec folder.
Delete the c:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared folder.

If uninstalling Symantec AntiVirus using Add / Remove Programs does not work, you can use the directions on this Symantec website to manually remove all elements of Symantec Antivirus from your computer

I had them both so I did this:

Click on My Computer
Click on C or HDD
Select program files
then delete AOL and Norton

If you get a message saying cannot delete for one reason or another disconnect from the internet and try it again. I did it but it takes patience.

This might not be any direct help, but if you work in a regular office, the IT/server guy might help you a bit, or call something like Best Buy's Geek Squad
