Well, Yes it certainly can. It happened to my mom. Ace bandage wrapped tightly around the rib cage is about it. There is also an elastic rib belt you can purchase at the drug store.

That really depends on your age - my 88 year old grandmother cracked a rib when she had a cold with a bad cough. If you're younger, I'd say probably not. If it really hurts, it may be pleurisy (not sure that's spelled right, spell checker says it ok). That's when you get an infection in the lining of the lungs and even breathing hurts (been there, done that). You'll need to get an x-ray to know for sure.

No, coughing will not crack your ribs. It is possible for one to get pushed out of place. There is no home remedy that I know of, you need to see a chiropractor.

no it will not crack a rib, but coughing can cause the chest muscles to pull and contract causing soreness in the area
