President Bush was quite successful actually at accomplishing many of the aims of his party: 1. passage of legislation "necessitated" by the events of September 11th that empowered his administration and future administrations to monitor the actions of its citizens more carefully than ever before (ie - Patriot Act), 2. firm support of many of the conservative ideals of the "conservative side" of his party - halting progress in stem cell research, support for instruction of intelligent design within schools, defense of marriage as an institution reserved for heterosexuals (by way of constitutional amendment!), etc, et cetera, et cetera. 3. Continued exploitation of foreign economies through legislation such as CAFTA, hypocritical stance on illegal immigration that ostensibly suggests that his administration is against it when, in reality, they couldn't be more for it - that which injects much cheap, productive labor into the economy, 4. That whole war on terror / war on oil debate isn't really a debate is it. So long as the US is able to continue its penetration into new foreign markets, wrest control over other nations' resources, our economy may continue growing. Like a sales ad, I'll stop right here and say that there's "too much to list!" I have no doubt that Republican interests coincide with strong economic growth in this country, but I have always argued over the ethical cost of that growth.

No, they probably wouldn't apologize for a thing. He was quite productive at realizing or perpetuating many of their ideals.

I am neither a Republican or Democrat.

Read My Lips......NEVER!!! Why should any body ever apologize for exercising their constitutional right to vote for the candidate of their CHOICE.

I will admit I am not happy with Mr. Bush but given my loathing and down right disdain for Hanoi John the last election was a no brainer. The Dems/Libs have no one to blame but themselves for losing the last two Presidential races. If you all can not put up any better candidates than Al Gore and John Kerry then you don't deserve anything. For that matter the only reason Slick Willie got elected was Ross Perot.

I was hoping you Dems/Libs meant what you said about moving to the center and representing middle America but Judging from your post on this site and others it was only talk.

So which Dem/Lib party is it going to be? The party that represents middle America, has moved to the center, and has pledged to work with the President. Or the sorched earth party?

I am not a betting man but if I were I would not bet the family farm on helping Middle America.

The Republicans never elected Junior to office
First trip out ---Gore solidly beat the man in the popular vote
and it was the Supreme Court that installed the man into office !!!
The second time around -- it was the independants afraid of the "don't change the direction of things in the middle of a war" thing and the absolute apathy of the Democrats that elected the man to office---the Republicans were Not the Fault here !!!
AND YOU DON'T HAVE A CLUE HOW PAINFUL IT IS FOR ME TO ACTUALLY SAY THAT !!!!!

As soon as Jimmy Carter apologizes for denouncing US policy in a foreign country and the failed mission to rescue hostages in Iran and for toasting champagne with the Shaw of Iran.

I left out a bunch! and that's just a partial list for one Democratic president.

When the results of life finally come in, you'll find that wasting your time on useless subjects will get you nowhere fast! And, if you live that long, you'll probably be a republican by then and it won't matter anyway.

Never. He is a good man. The only thing he should have to aopologize for is maybe some of the judgement calls he made on some of the political advisors he has used. Other than that this is really a difficult time in our society and I believe that we have lost the reason why we went to war in the first place. WE were terrorized.

1. The popular vote is meaningless because the Electoral College governs. Have you ever read about the Electoral College, and why it's in place? Try it sometime.

2. The U.S. Supreme Court did no such thing. What the court DID do (only because Gore sued) was declare the recounts in FL to be unconstitutional, which they were, because they violated the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment. The court also halted any new recounts because the Florida Supreme Court had arbitrarily extended the recount deadline, which was against the law.
