My wife is a pack rat, she refuses to throw anything away. It has recently gotten out of control.... there are areas of our house where the papers clothes and trash is ankle deep. My wife has a shopping fetish and has well over 10k of underwear and lingere alone. She recently dropped a few dress sizes and has hundreds of pairs of underwear that no longer fit. There is an entire room in my house that is ankle deep in her oversized undergarments. I asked her if I can throw them away but she refuses because she says she'll have nothing to wear if she gains weight. I have boxed them up only to find the floor covered in them gain because she is trying to "organize them". Honestly it frustrating to live like this and a little disgusting. Would I be wrong to just toss it while she's at work.

It's your wife's stuff, don't toss it. Try to work with her on clearing out some of the clutter (try taping a few episodes of Clean Sweep and having her watch them).

WELL THAT'S A HARD ONE ALTHOUGH I KNOW A COUPLE JUST LIKE YOU TOO!!! YOUR WIFE HAS A SHOPPING ADDICTION AND A TOUCH OF OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER AND MAYBE A TOUCH OF A.D.D. ITS PROBABLY REALLY NOT HER FAULT!!! BUT I CAN ALSO UNDERSTAND WHERE YOU ARE COMING FROM!!! THERE IS MEDICATION THAT WILL HELP ALSO HAVE YOU EVER OFFERED TO HELP HER GO THREW THINGS IT MIGHT BE A BIT OVERWHELMING AND ESPECIALLY IF SHE HAS A.D.D. SHE CAN NOT STAY FOCUSED ON ONE AREA LONG ENOUGH TO GET ANYTHING DONE AND IS SCATTERED STARTS A PROJECT AND NEVER FINISHES GET HER ON SOME MEDS AND TRY TO HELP HER GET THE HOUSE BACK IN ORDER HOPEFULLY THE MEDS WILL KICK IN AND SHE WILL KEEP IT LIKE THAT!!!!!

not for me. i did toss my husband's unused stuffs away cause i'm the only one working around in the house to make sure it's a home to live in and my husband has not complain so far. while i was back home having my best friend living in with me i did that as well cause i can't stand home that's not a home. so one of the golden rule i've always learn in life is not buying things for the sake of buying and not needing them, better still keep the money we have and make them grow. it's hard earn money.

i so understand what you mean. my grandma has the same problem with medicine. like most of them have expiration dates of 1995, she still has them now and won't let anyone touch them. but whenever i go to her house, i just throw them out without asking her. so maybe you should throw some stuff out if its becoming a problem for you. but little by little otherwise she'll be mad if she finds out.

organize it slowly. in time she will be glad because you did it for her and she will realize how much she really has and doesn't need .
