I'm looking for a good book to read about life in general, I guess like a self-help book. I'm thinking about picking up a psychology major and writing about every possible aspect of life I can think of, both ups and downs, but I need some inspiration. Can anyone recommend a good book?

How about a classic? "I'm OK, You're OK" or "How to win friends and influence people"

Well, I'd suggest the Perks of Being a Wallflower. It's not a self-help book, but I think it helps. It's very much like Catcher in the Rye and A Seperate Peace and although it's a tad disappointing, it's also very uplifting if you look back and read some of the quotes.

I'd suggest the Five People You Meet In Heaven and anything by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

I've been suggested the Time Traveler's Wife but I've yet to read it.

The Assault by Mulisch

It's about the lifetime of consequences when a Nazi soldier is killed outside of a boy's home in occupied Holland. It's not really a war novel, it follows him through life up through the 80s. It tells a good story about how people are and are not responsible for the actions of others.

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (Jonathon Saffran Foer) is an amazing book about people/life. There's nothing Thoreau-profound about it, but it is certainly inspirational.
