Good and Safe outfit to wear to a christmas party: Slacks
(khaki, blue, any color you choose), a nice Collared Shirt, no tie, if is not formal and nice dress shoes, some you might wear to the office, but better.

business suit in cut, but a more relaxed color would be fine, or a dark (or red) blazer with jeans and a nice silk tie. If its all informal dress, a regular sweater and a tie underneath and nice slacks. If you think the people who conduct the promotions are not watching you at this event, you re mistaken.
( BTW: Two drink MAXimum. Its not funny when an employee makes advances or dances with the bosses wife with a lampshade on his head)

If you're a girl try a cute wrap dress, nice heeled shoes and some simple but feminine jewelry.
IF you're a guy try flat front slacks, a collared striped or gingham cotton shirt, with a nice belt and some leather shoes.
