Its my first baby and I really don't want to go overdue, especially as it will mean Christmas in hospital!
I've had no labour signs or symptoms at all. A few Braxton Hicks. Baby was 3/5 engaged last Weds but apart from that nothing!
If I was going to be on time or early do you think I would have started having cramps/a show/waters leaking or any other symptoms?
( I haven't had anything at all and it really feels like baby will want to stay there for another month. I'm so tired and fed up I don't think I could handle it, but I've been told I won't be induced until I go 2 weeks over.)

I brought my first on by violent sex, going on top!
However, my eldest has a few minor problems and despite the doctor's concerns over my blood pressure, I think she could have done with a few more days in there.
All three of my children were late ranging 9 to 15 days. First ones do seem to take an age though.
All the best and do come back and tell us how it went please.

sorry, i had no symptoms until the day i went into labour - 10 days overdue!!! You can have a show weeks before the baby comes, or on the day, every woman is different. My sisters waters broke first, then had contractions whereas i had mild contractions and had to have my waters broken for me. A long walk helped me in the end but as i said, he was 10 days overdue and we tried EVERYTHING to make him come on time!! I also knew a woman who didn't even know she was in labour - i think they called it "silent labour". She had some mild cramping that wouldn't go away so she thought she'd better get herself checked out - she found out she was 8cm dilated!!!

okay as i am sure you are aware from now to 42 weeks should be okay as a few others have said sex was the way for me although a little awkward let the semen stay inside a little while tilt up a little be very careful as if you are not carefull lying on your back can make you feel faint my first was born 2 weeks late middle child 1 week early and 3rd 2 weeks late all fortunately without being induced go steady and enjoy the peace while you can x f x

Everyone is different its hard to tell i felt the same way i just had my first 4 1/2 weeks ago. At my last doctor appt when i was still pregnant i was 38 weeks and 4 day i had no signs nothing and i wasn't even dilated yet(on a Friday) to anything and my the next night(Saturday) i started losing a bunch of my Muse plug and my that next day i started contractions like no other (Sunday) that night before i was up all night with contraction 10 Min's apart so that day i went to the hospital and i was 1 1/2 centimeters with contraction less than 5 Min's apart but i was dilation anymore so they sent me home i went to my local doctor that next day at noon i was 3 centimeters and i rushed up to Iowa city to my doctors and by 4:57 am Tuesday morning i had my daughter what i am trying to say is that just because Ur not getting anything happening yet it could happen tommore just like that just be pacinte he/she will come when he/she is ready! :)

Hi Im know a mum of 2. My first arrived 3 weeks early due to complications. I know that towards the end of pregnancy it really drags and is most uncomfortable but just remember that he/she obviously isnt ready. Even though they didnt class my baby as prem, she had alot of problems putting on weight and we were worried about her for a long time. Please just hang on in there and try not to force your body into labour as it may noy go as smoothly as you hoped if everything isnt ready. Youve come this far whats another month??? Good luck hope all goes well for you.

Youre in the home strech of the game honey. All I can tell you is to do just what I did to induce my own labor. Get the labor started the same way you got pregnant, have sex. Your pelvis muscles contract during orgasm in a similar way to actual labor. All I can say is that walking, spicy foods, all of that garbage didn't work the way having sex did with both of my kids. If that doesn't work, then all I can say is that you have to do whatever you can to make the last month of this pregnancy bareable. Good luck and congrats on your baby.

You can start at any day, anytime and still deliver a baby in a timely manner.
Your baby is going to come out when it's ready, even if that means staying in the hospital over Christmas. You're going to get a GREAT Christmas present if you do!

eat a spicy curry, take a warm bath, go up and down a flight of stairs a few times. pineapples and cinnamon tea contain an ingredient that is claimed to help bring on labour and try making love with your partner. semen contains something that softens the cervix which gives labour a helping hand. all of the above are known to help. try these around your due date

as this is your first baby its head will engage a while before you go into labour anyway. also 37 weeks is only just classed as full term, alot of first time babies are overdue so i think you should just be patient and let nature take its course although i know how difficult it is when you want to meet your little one!!!! just remember as well that its little lungs have yet to mature, so the longer it stays in there the better, 40 weeks is best, good luck x

Don't worry. One thing you can be sure of is that in 5 weeks time you won't be pregnant and you'll have a gorgeous baby.
Baby will come when he/she is ready, and not before. If you're in a rush, take hubby upstairs and regularly make his day by giving him a damn good seeing to, this is proven to bring on labour (apparently there is a hormone in the semen). If you're not in a rush lie back relax and let hubby spoil you. Most of all enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and most of all..good luck!
