Not all snow is heavy. The weight of the snow has to do with the water content. Snow that falls in higher humidity will be wetter and heavier because of the higher liquid content. Snow that falls in lower humidity will have lower water content and be lighter.

Here in the Midwest where I live we can have snow that lands as slush and is almost impossible to shovel. Then we can have snow so light you can sweep it away with a broom.

It is actually lighter than water by volume but, because of its adhesion which allows it to pile up on a roof, for instance, it gives the impression of being very heavy.

As your previous answerer said, water is heavier than you think. Just one gallon of it weighs over 3 pounds.
