I think Charles Rangel is just trying to initiate a debate in his own inimitable way. It will never pass, but it will make people stop and think about who is paying for this war with their blood and who is benefitting.

I usually disagree with Rep. Rangel but I take my hat off to him on this one.

The current generations have fogotten what civic duty is. There is a need to defend what the United States providing that the reason is a true case of defending the United States, not some idea. The greatest generation defeated Hitler and Japan, and the general public was in on the game. Meatless Mondays and all that. The US public couldn't and wouldn't do that anymore. They are to used to having everything they want, when they want it, or complain that they don't. God forbid that some left winger has to see casualities, because it is a product of war. So is colaterial damage. If the enemy public don't want to be killed, move from the target areas. What would have happened in WWII if we hadn't carpet bombed Germany, or how many US soldiers would have died to prevent using the atomic bombs on Japan.

Face it and accept the fact the the United States citizen is an ungrateful, spoilt, lazy person, out for whatever they can get.

People keep talking about "Support Our Troops"
Boohoo you don't support our troops....
Since the start of the war in Afghanistan, I a "liberal" have been saying talk is cheap... talk is BS! Didn't the US and its citizens learn the comparative lessons of WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam??? I guess not!

I will NEVER support a war in which our politicians and we THE PEOPLE are unwilling to do the following:
1) Increase taxes (to pay for military & reconstruction))
2) Start a draft (with only medical and age exemptions)
3) Attack with overwhelming (full military) force
4) Start a national rationing and recycling program
5) Prepare our industry for 100% infrastructure reconstruction of the nation we are about to annihilate

If our politicians and we THE PEOPLE are unwilling to do these things for our national defense then we have no business going to war.
Republicans had nearly 6 yrs to mobilize this country properly for a war and they slowly squandered our national image, resources, and lives in their pathetic attempt.
