Spybot is the best for free.
Ad-aware is good but not as good as spybot.
When you clean it up make sure that you install
1) AVG Free (for virus protection)
2) Spybot
3) Ad-Aware (not problem running both)
4) consider some type of software firewall, McAfee, Norton and Zone-Alarm are all good.

the others are good but AVG is best does take a long time to run but it is worth it the free edition auto updates to include any new threats i highly recomend

just type in AVG free in your search engine, i found it very good. also if you have limewire or similar programs your existing security may be detecting it and closing your computer down as it did with mine. i just got rid of limewire and my problem went with it...touch wood!

Download the software and physically disconnect from the internet, especially if you're on broadband which is always on.
