i bought an ipod (30gb) from my friend. she only gave me the ipod and the usb cord.....she put about 100 songs in there. now i want to put some of my own, and i dont know how to do that help please......thank you

Download iTunes, then open your song with it so they'll be added to your itunes library. Then connect the ipod and load the songs into it.
You don't need the startup disc anymore. The new itunes brings the ipod software with it.

is it an ipod nano? well if it is, then u have to install the cd that it came with called itunes. It is a program that u MUST have to install music on to ur ipod. If u don't have the cd u can go to itunes.com and buy the program. Then u get songs from either itunes or another program like limwire or morpheus. If u get them from limewire, u have to install limewire on ur pc, u do that by going to limewire.com and buy the pro version or get the regular version for free. I have the free version. U can also buy ur songs from itunes at the music store which is listed when u bring up itunes on the start menu. That is a rip off tho in my opinion cause it cost $1 for only one lousy song! And it really adds up so I would just get it from limewire or morpheus or another program u might now. Anyway to get a song from limewire, all u do is type the artist or song in the search menu then alot of different songs will pop up. Pick the one that best fits ur search query. Also, the one that has the biggest amount of numbers next to it means that it's the safest so it's best to download those! Now, once u pick a song u download it and wait for it to get 100% done then u go to ur music which is also on limewire then click on the song u want to put on ur ipod and then save it under a name. then open itunes and go up to file and click add song and find the song on whichever file u put it in then press ok and then it should be on ur ipod. but u have to either burn, sync, or update the songs on ur ipod which is also on the file menu. oh girl she ripped you off cause the ipod needs its software that comes included with the ipod. The software you install and then you can download songs. You can always just download the software from the internet for free. (limewire, ares, and kazam)

you have to download itunes from www.apple.com to be able to put your own songs on your ipod. just upload your songs onto itunes and then have itunes copy them to your ipod.
