If I told you a college football team would win 8 games and lose only to the number 1,2,5 and 8 th. ranked BCS teams would you not expect it to be voted at least in the top 25? Yet PSU gets almost no votes in either poll. Hard to figure. I guess making the players go to class is a detrament to some voters.

I'm sort of with you. I was a little surprised during the stretch where Penn St. was not ranked. I think they'll get better with antoher year under Marelli's(not sure if i spelt his name right) belt.
Also, I am a Wisconsin fan and other than the loss to Michigan, I think Penn St. could have ben the biggest test for the Badgers.

You just answered your own question! They have ZERO quality wins! If they don't step up and BEAT someone in the top 10, they won't get or deserve any respect when you consider their non-conference scheduling and the fact they've been mediocre at best since joining the Big 10. I've always thought that PSU would fall off a bit once they got in the Big 10 and I was right! All those years they were beating up on sorry little Rutgers and Temple teams et al has put them in a place where they only had to win three or four tough games to be elevated to contender status. Now that they belong to a tough conference, they take the same kind of pounding every week that tough teams in tough conferences get all the time! Until they make a move against Top 10 competition on a consistent basis in or out of their conference, they'll never again be as deserving as they might have been once. It has no bearing on their class time. There are several programs who have good graduation rates (Ever hear of NOTRE DAME?) who make it work, so don't come at me with that lame excuse.

They aren't that great of a team. They lost big in almost all those games. Also, PSU isn't the only school making their players go to class. Most Notre Dame football players double major in some of the hardest majors at ND, which if you knew anything ND is a very prestige school.

I'm not a hater or a fan.

Part of the problem is their schedule. Beating on Tony's House of Diplomas, Youngstown State, Akron, and high school JV teams hurts in the BCS formula.

I think it is more a standing infatuation with teams driven by NFL coaches, including USC and Notre Dame. That has changed the complexion of the voting.

JoPa is old, and doesn't get the love he used to, broken leg or not.

Were any of those games even close? Its hard for a four team loss to get any respect. Oregon State lost 4 games and they have not earned any respect at all. I guess the only people who think highly of penn state this season are big 10 fans.

They did well this year with a really tough scedule. Anytime you have to play Wisconsin, you know its going to be a long year. Look what the badgers did to Jo Pa, those guys show no mercy!
