It usually takes longer for breastfeeding moms to get their periods back. Especially if you are exclusively nursing.

My period came back at 10 mos with my first, 9.5 mos with my second and around 16 mos with my third. They were usually pretty heavy at first and also my cycles were long. They started out around 55 day cycles and then, over about 5 months, they got shorter and became predictable again.

It can happen anytime after about 6 months. If you are as lucky as I have been (2 times) you wont start until after your baby is 9 months. With my last baby (16 months) I didn't start my period until 2 weeks after I stopped breastfeeding which was right after she turned a year old. Enjoy it and try not to stress. I know it is hard. I stressed all the time and I think I called my doctor at least 2 times a month. She was always nice BUT I wouldn't suggest it. Good luck and congrats on the new baby.

Every person is different but most of the time you won't get your period until baby is about to turn 1 year old. There some cases in which women get their period even tho they are breastfeeding. But I know more cases in which they don't get it at all...I breastfed 2 kids one year each and didn't get my period until they were 1 year old...it is normal...you still can get pregnant tho so if don't want more babies use some type of contraceptive I got scared several times!! lol anyways take advantage of it while it lasts...I was loving not having my period for like 4 years!!! I got my period only one year in between those 4.

Some babies will go on nursing strikes during their mothers' periods. Something just doesn't taste right, I guess?

I nursed two babies for more than a year each, and I didn't get a period with either of them until they were 11 months old. And nothing happened: they didn't care a bit.

your period may not come for a while. You can still get pregnant but while you breastfeed you may not bleed at all
