Actually, no there's no such thing as machines, that's nonsense.
They make it in the fake snow factory. That's in the part of Antarctica that's claimed by (I think) 5 countries. Anyway, they hire elves and gnomes. Elves are three times as better as gnomes, but the slopes hire them anyway, they have to meet a quota...
Yeah, I know, you got me, I just made that up.
there's no such thing as a quota...

It isn't fake snow, it's man made snow. Fake snow is crumbled up styrfoam that you see in department store windows in the Christmas decorations, where it substitutes for snow.
Ski slopes use high pressure hoses to spray water into the air, and when the air is cold enough, it freezes and, by the same process that natural snow uses, it creates snowflakes. So the stuff on the hills is real snow. The hill managers just provide the water, rather than waiting for natural snowfalls. It also means they can regulate the 'snowfall' and time it so it happens overnight and the hills are freshly covered and groomed for the next day of skiing.

Using a "snow cannon". It is a device that pumps water under a high pressure through a nozle where it mixes with air. It must be used when the temperature is below freezing. The water is pulverized in small droplets as it leaves the nozle at high speed and it is transformed into small ice crystals when in contact with the outside air . The small ice crystals fall onto the ground. That's what snow is: ice crystals...

There are real machines that can make snow. I live within a short distance of several ski resorts: Alta, Beaver Mtn, Brian Head, Brighton, The Canyons, Deer Valley, Park City Mtn, Powder Mtn, Snowbasin, Snowbird,Solitude,Sundance, Wolf Mtn... to name a few.

My guess is you are talking about snow guns. They spray a mixture of water and air and create fake snow so we can get on the hills sooner and stay longer in the season.

I think that when it is freezing but it hasn't snowed yet they spray water out of poles and it freezes before it hits the ground making snow. They normally do it at night cause it is colder.

I'm not sure what this has to do with royalty, but anyway...they use water and condense it to make the snow.
