At the shop, we recommend 3/4 to one pound per person. This will account for bone weight, shrinkage during cooking, and allow for some leftovers.

Last year I had 35 guests, and we cooked 2 25 lb turkeys. There was plenty of food for everyone, and not a lot of leftovers, but enough that we were able to send some home with people. I have always heard a pound per person is your best bet- and it never hurts to have a little extra- BEST TO HAVE TO MUCH THAN NOT ENOUGH!! Good luck!

usually 2 pounds per person....... I know that sounds like a lot, but the bones are included in that weight. To feed a party of 10, I would cook at least a 20 pound turkey.

You should give about 1 to 2 pounds of turkey

When buying whole turkey, figure 3/4 pound per person for a generous serving with no leftovers, or 1 to 1-1/2 pounds per person with leftovers. For a bone-in breast only, figure 3/4 pound per person.

Just think about the people that are eating. And see how much they normally eat and think about the turkey size. Kinda put down the portions before you cook it.

Always have a little extra :)

I would say about 3/4 to 1lb of Turkey. That is a lot of turkey, not to mention all of the other food that will be on the table.

Simple: 1) how many people are attending? 2) How much of an appetite do they have.. that should help you determine what size of a turkey to buy! :)

It depends on the amount of people comming.

The smaller the turkey the better.

Also get a hen instead of a tom as they tend to be less tough

I always say about a lb per person since I take the bone into consideration and the amount of leftovers I want.
