why can't i forget about my ex?

Question

my ex and i have a daughter that he has never acknowledge, won't see and doesn't even care about. we've bee apart now for almost 3 yrs, i have since moved on, have a loving boyfriend and a great dad to my daughter. my ex is now w/ a family member and hear about them frequently, he still is in contact w/ me through email but she doesn't know. I dream about him alot and think about him, i have his name tattooed on my back, and think i'm over him, but these thoughts and dreams are tearing me apart, how can i stop all this... he is mean and i just want to get over him already

When people divorce, it's easy to remember the good things and forget about the bad. Just remember how you two became exes and everything that led up to it and ask "would I do that over if I could?" It's doubtfull. You're remembering the image and love you had, not taking into account the actual person and his behaviors.

You know if he doesn't step up to the plate as far as your daughter goes he is not a man!!!
Quit worrying about him and focus on your daughter....like I said if he can't be a decent father...he has not made it to manhood!!!
Anyone who can have a relationship with someone in your family and still not be a part of your daughters life seems like he would not be capable of providing the type of support you and your little girl need. What a pile!!

For starters if you still have feeling for him and he does for you then I have a crazy thought, why not marry your babies daddy? If you really want to forget about him then stop with the emails and other communication with him. All you are doing by communicating with him is dragging up those old feelings again. Does your boyfriend know you are emailing him? Doesnt sound like that is too fair to him now does it?

I know how you feel girl... i have a 5 month old baby with a man i was once engaged to.. then he left me and no one knows where he is... and i also have his name tattoed on my lower back... its hard ... when i am with a guy i will lay there and think of him how he would feel how his chest would feel when i would lay my head on it and all of that... i have dreams and i miss him alot... but what i have to do is think how dirty of this man to leave me alone raising his child... he isnt worth me moping over. But for your ex to be with a family member i know that has to be hard. How dare him to be with someone in your family. Grow to hate him girl. Hate him for all the things he has done to you. Hate is the best way to try to move on. Good luck.... i need it too!!!

Unfortunately, you may not have gotten closure to the subject and its making you feel like you have lingering feelings for him. You may also have unresolved issues about your relationship with him, either in the past or its present with your daughter. Either go see a therapist who can help talk to you and figure it out or dig deep within yourself and figure it out. Good luck.

get a hobby and if it helps, see a counselor to help you set up some positive goals for yourself and help direct you into a newer direction with your life. getting over some one is not always easy, but with some help & guidance, it can at least begin a healing process.
