Let me ask you this...
In real life, you really have to chose to be loved or to moved forward in life...

Sometimes, you just have to be a smartass to secure that position (or the success and recognition) that you want in your career because you know that you're capable to and deserve to be there.
However, in reality being the smartest person in a bunch is sometimes a punishable act...
So... if you're that person, what would you do?
Would you be the succesfull smartass, or would you choose to be the quiet happy merry guy that dates a hot sexy office secretary?

In my real life I have more than the two options of being loved or to move forward. I have learned that being a smart *** doesn't bring any positive actions to or toward you. Pretty much nobody likes a smart ***. At work it will get you no where except left out. Most bosses (at least the ones I've had) don't like smart asses and usually find ways to make their job suck. Now if you are a boss, being a smart *** might be required, but nobody under you will look up to you or work any harder when you need them to if you are. I have also found that getting recognition for your work is very hard and being a smart *** won't help there either. Usually somebody else takes credit for the work being done by their underlings. It's all part of the American work ethic, or what it has become. I usually excel at my work, even way beyond my other co-workers, but the only thing that has actually got me besides a larger work load is the reputation of being good in my field when it comes to looking for a new employer.

As to your question of being the smartest person in your "bunch", you need to have a great personality and know how to look good without making them look like idiots. Maybe they are smarter than you think, but know when to show it, and when to act dumb in order to avoid excess work.

I prefer to stand out and go for what my heart desires in the long-term sense, that is to be a smartass. If you are capable of doing something, why should you shrink from it? How different would the world be today if Jackie Robinson decided to stay in the ***** Leagues instead of moving on and being the best he could be? Sure, he was often on the recieving end of racists and haters, but he chose to keep on following his dreams, and that is what makes him so great today. That is what he is remembered for: bravery, courage, boldness and fearlessness. This is why he is a legend.

Sometimes in life you have to make tough decisions. At the end it all boils down to whether or not you are happy with who you are and with who you have become.

If being the smartass makes you happy, and successful, you should by all means be what you want. But if it is causing other people harm or you aren't happy being a smartass then maybe you should stick with the hot secretary...

No problem with being smart....it's just how you show it. If you're humble about it, that is not bragging, or showing it off, then you will get the recognition eventually through your works. Of course, there will always be a jealous person from time to time, but if you're not humble to begin with, then many enemies you will make.

No doubt. Be the quiet merry guy that dates a hot sexy office secretary. It is much more fun.

just do what YOU like.
why are you people so stupid.
when will you finally learn that.
try out what you prefer, based on you, then just do it. it doesn't matter if the world turns against you. if you let other people make you feel bad it's because YOU are letting yourself feel bad.
being smart is cool, just have fun and always have a sense of humor. date who you want.

you get to have fun

besides, hot secretaries prefer to date the owner of the firm, not some ambition-less clerk
