I found from personal experience my periods became less frequent every 2 and 3 and then 6 months apart and then they trailed off until after about 2 years they stopped.

Its a gradual change unless you have had a hysterectomy or other types of radical surgery.

Menopause can start as early as your 30's or as late as your 50's depending on the woman. They have "guesses" of why or when, but its really your genetics that "rule the hormones".

I have seen Menopausal 32 yr old and a just last week in our clinic was 65 year woman that was 5 months pregnant. SO good luck!

unfortunately, for most of us they slowly diminish...sometimes getting worse and more frequent prior to stopping all together. This irregularity can last for several years. Talk to your doctor about what is happening with you and make sure you have annual check ups and pap tests...Good luck

Apparently, from what i know (and i am 22 so hopefully a little while before i have personal experience), they get less regular, this may be due to un predictable levels of hormones. Then you may not have one for ages and think that they have stopped and then get another one.

There are options though, i beleive Eveining primrose is good for it, or otherwise there are drug options i think like HRT, but they are not without their problems.

Mine just slowly diminished over a year, but my friend's just stopped. That was it. I have another friend of 56 still having periods.
It's very individual, every woman is different.
