The MBz OIL LIGHT is an indicator of OIL PRESSURE. It only requires about 3 - 5 pounds of pressure to turn the light off. If the engine is running, and if there is sufficient oil in the engine, the oil pressure light should go off as soon as the engine is started. The light will come on when there is an internal OIL LEAK, like from a worn out engine. The OIL PRESSURE Sensor could be defective, (a common problem) and would need to be replaced. It is also possible to try swapping your OIL PRESSURE sensor with one from another car, or one from a car parts house, like Kragen, or Pep Boys. All that needs to be correct is to have the same metric gauge threading to fit your engine with the replacement Pressure sensor. Does your car have an OIL PRESSURE gauge in the instrument panel as well as a warning light? Most cars do not have both.
If you lost all your oil from some kind of accident, the oil pump could not build up oil pressure and the OIL PRESSURE light should come on. DO NOT DRIVE the car or RUN the engine without OIL PRESSURE unless you are sure the problem is in the OIL Pressure Sensor. You will destroy your engine if you run it without oil or oil pressure.

What does the oil-pressure gage read? THAT's the real deal, not a light.

If the pressure is good, then the switch that sends the signal to the light is defective.
