These movies if available(for purchase/or on TV) would fit the bill:
The Plymouth Adventure(1952) with Spencer Tracy
Mayflower(1979) with Richard Crenna
there's also an amimated short film called, Mouse on the Mayflower with the voice of Tennessee Ernie Ford. In my area they used to show the original King Kong on TV for Thanksgiving. There also was at least one episode of The Walton's that dealt with Thanksgiving. The Courtship of Miles Standish by Longfellow is a good poem to read.

Christmas Vacation! My family always watches that on Thanksgiving. It's really funny and a great family movie, plus it gets you in the spirit for Christmas.

I'd recommend Second Hand Lions, The Three Lives of Thomasina, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, or The Gnome Mobile. Also, Cinderella Man. And as someone else already suggested, Akeelah and the Bee is quite good, as well. And personally, I think Some Like It Hot appeals to almost all ages. Oh, I almost forgot White Christmas!

Elf or The Santa Claus. Galaxy Quest, Cheaper By the Dozen, or Finding Nemo, for non-holiday themed. I have a large family, and these are the most comfortable and fun to watch.

If you're not stuck on a Thanksgiving theme, rent Akela and the Bee. It's a very sweet story.

Christmas Vacation was a favorite in our house - The kids know it by heart (couldn't tell you how many times they have watched it - they're 22 and 24 now and still love it)
