Hi
Yesterday there were lots of problems with public transport in London but for various reasons.
Yes there was a strike. This strike was bus workers working for Metroline which is one of the London Bus providers. All (or nearly all) Metroline routes were halted. This mainly affected bus routes in North and North West London. Bus routes operated by other operators (eg. First, Arriva etc.) were not affected.
The London Underground (tube, or subway as you called it) was not affected by strikes but a number of lines still had problems (and some were closed completely). This was due to incomplete weekend engineering on some lines, signalling faults on other lines and people taken ill on the Bakerloo and Jubillee Lines.
There were also problems on mainline trains due to bad weather conditions.

No, not entirely. The buses were affected by a strike, but the tube was due to a computer failure and maintainance work not being finished on time....;

i do no longer think of many agencies will close because of the strikes because of the fact human beings will only use cabs, trains, tubes, trams, motorcycles, ft, autos and curler blades to navigate their way around. additionally no longer all buses are cancelled only a 0.33 so maximum individuals isn't affected in any respect.
