There are some heat tolerent species of apples that'll gorw in Florida. Does anyone know what they are called? are they sweet?

The florida apples are the Anna and Dorset goldens. They are different from their Northern cousins and are grown mainly for the homeowners of the farms in Florida. They are hard to grow and susceptible to mildew esp the Annas.

If you are in zone 10 – Sorry, no apples for you.

In a zone 9 you can grow:
Granny Smith: good eating, tart & tangy
Arkansas Black: sweet, good for cooking and baking
Cortland Apple: sweet, juicy and also good for cooking & baking


You’ll need to plant more than one tree / variety because they are not self pollinating… I suggest you purchase tree locally if you can if not I’ve always been happy with the plants I received from nature hills nursery...

Florples? Florida is famous for orange juice and citrus. Not sure about apples.

Lived there never seen any apples growing for resale.Course there most likely is some where there??/
