Personal skills: read situations and learn how to deal with also very polite individuals who have a different agenda to yourself. Persuasion. Public speaking. interviewing skills.
Transferable skills: interviewing skills, writing and analysing tough-ish issues to time constraints,

With a law degree you gain the most valuable information because not only are you learning academically but you are also learning valuable life skills. A person with a law degree had the ability to think outside of the box. They can analyze interpret and are great writers.

A law degree gives you infomation transferable to many fields, and helps develop skills of argument and debate. Careers in Journalism and Politics (as well as the obvious ones) could become accessable.

I think this question is backwards. You don't go to Law School to get academic skills - you go there to prepare for a career outside academia, in the law. On the other hand, you really need to have all your academic skills in place before you get there! If you don't know how to reason, write, read, analyze, research BEFORE you get to Law school, you are going to be in tough shape!
