I'm a 50 year old female. I'd rather be unwanted and alone than live with people who put me down and don't value my contributions.

Inadequate and unappreciated- oh wait I was married for 12 years- been there done that..... but really I would rather feel inadequate and unappreciated- I've felt unwanted and unloved and pick the lesser of two evils. I'm female.

Unwanted and unloved. I think one could deal with this easier than having feelings of inadequacy and inappreciation. I know I myself could deal with being unloved, as I feel I am strong enough emotionally to cope with that. I would feel worse if I felt inadequate. I'm female, by the way.
