Yes - because I learn more that way. The devil's advocate calls them to account and makes them justify what they say.

Most definitely. I feel like my opinion on a subject is unjustified if I can't scrounge up enough info on the other side to make a convincing argument.

I don't love it, but many people don't seem to be able to see the logical and epistemological flaws in their reasoning.

It depends on the situation Sometime as I genuinely care other times I just want to get under the person's skin.

Sometimes. There are some cases in which I can honestly see the merit of the contrary view. In a spirit of thoroughness and intellectual honesty, I will sometimes provide it also.
