I have to agree - the Macross Saga and the original storyline shown on the U.S. version of Robotech was YEARS ahead of it's time - the depth of character, the story of emotions involving Rick Hunter, Minmei, Lynn-Kyle, and Lisa Hunter was awesome. I wish more cartoons these days focused on the human story than on the violence and gore.

My favorite Robotech saga is also the first one -- the Macross Saga. Because this where everything began...Aside from the impressive action sequence it also have a good plot...Plus its filled with interesting characters like Rick Hunter, Liza Hayes, Capt. Global, Lyn Minmei and many more!

Oh yeah, the Macross saga by FAR!!! Best characters, best story, most human drama. Even the Macross movie "Do you remember love" is a classic, even though it tells a very different version of the story.
The Invid & Robotech masters were hit & miss. In any event, the Chargers will rule the AFC :)

I really liked it up to the point where the real romantic setting began. Where there was abit of a love conflict for Rick between Min Mei and Miss Masa. Loved how it turned out cause i looove Miss Masa. Oh, and the love between the female alien *knows the name but fraid to spell it wrong* and that guy *forgot his name. damn its been a long time. i really miss Robotech*. That was my favorite point of the show.
