I don't know about top 3 because that would be Manning and Brady, but Brees is definitely making a case this year to be considered top 5. If McNabb would have been able to stay healthy, I might have said he was #3. Same for Hasselbeck. I would personally say Palmer is the 3rd best, but it is debatable.
Unfortunately for Brees with that game yesterday, he threw 3 picks, 2 in the end zone that killed their opportunity to win. Also, one season of leading the league in yards passing doesn't make him the best QB. Ironic that your screen name is tgreen as Trent Green has thrown for over 4000 yds a couple times, but no one considered him a top 3 QB during those seasons.

As a San Diego fan, I was mad when they let him go. And I still think he's a great QB. But it's obvious now that he was lacking something that Rivers has, it's hard to put a finger on it, but I think it's the decision making in tough situations. The Chargers have the same offense that they had last year, but this year they're coming back and winning games instead of running out of steam and losing leads. The difference has been the Rivers over Brees situation. Brees is a great QB and a great person, he'll be good for the New Orleans community, but I wouldn't put him among the best until he proves he can keep from making the kinds of mistakes that lose games. (He failed to do that against Cincy.)

I think that without a doubt, Brees has proven himself to be one of the best QB's in the league. I must admit i did have some doubts about him a couple years back when he wasn't doing too good, but i have no more doubts about him and have actually become a fan of his.

Im right there with you...he has to be considered top 3!
And to the guy who said Romo....Are you kidding me?? Sure Romo is doing great for the Cowboys, but come on...How can you compare a guys whos played 4 games to guys that have played consistantly for several seasons? Your smoking crack to put him in the same category as Manning, Brady, and Brees at this point in the season.

He is Top 5, not top 3.
Still, he is a gamer, and has made all the difference running the new system. 510 yards, kind of speaks for itself. If only their defense was better...
His decision making is still a work in progress. He doesn't read a defense and adjust the way Manning, Brady, McNabb, and Palmer do.
I thought San Diego was crazy to let him go. Maybe it worked out for both...

Good QB on a second tier team. Kinda like Manning without the playoff disappointments and commercials...

I think so, but you've gotta look at another name not widely used. Tony Romo has had a great season since starting for the cowboys. He helped hand out the Colts first loss. Romo and Brees are in the running for 3rd best. definitely Peyton and Brady, though.

There's no questioning his heart, talent, work ethic, and determination. I'd take him as a QB for my favorite team. Who Else would be in the top 3? Manning and Brady of course. McNabb? Always hurt these days. Hasselbeck? I dunno about that. Bulger? No. Favre? Not anymore, but an all time great as much as it pains. Vick? Exciting, but I think not. So sure, he could be a top three.
