He was running a 103 fever yesterday, and today his testicle is really swelled up. We went to the er on halloween for the same symptoms and they said he was fine but by the time they looked at him (9hours later),st francias sucks!, he wasn't swelled up anymore. I've been trying to call his doctor's office but I can't get through. Does anyone know any reason for the swelling to be going and coming back with no injuries? Anyone know what to do?

Its a hernia get him to the hospital NOW! My son had this too. He nearly died cos it nearly strangulated. At least get him checked.

If need be get him to a different hospital and get him checked for a hernia. Tell them it keeps coming and going thats what hernias do.

It could be a hernia - my mother in law had a similar thing happen to my husband when he was about that age. He had to have the hernia fixed and he was fine after that. The next time that happens you might want to photograph the swollen part with a digital or polaroid camera and take the camera/cell phone with you to the ER/doctor's office. You're right to be concerned and it's pretty stinky of the doctors to dismiss your concerns and not do their due diligence. Keep after your pediatrician and you may even want to try your own physician. I hope that everything works out for you.
