So I started taking the pill on the 29th of October. I'm now on the sugar pills this week it should end Saturday so I start taking the active pills on Sunday so I only have to wait a month after I take them to start having sex without a condom right. I know it's safer with one but I only have to wait a month right? So would I still have to use a condom Saturday since it's my last sugar pill and then I don't have to use one Sunday b/c I'm starting the active pill again. Or can I not use a condom on Saturday b/c I'm starting the active pill on Sunday again? Thanks

Ok one I don't want an STD I've only had sex with one person and it's the same person he has been tested and doesn't have anything we plan on being together for a long time so he doesn't nor do I have an STD. So after the first month of taking the pill I should be fine your saying then?

If I were you I would take extra precautions for a full month after starting, just to be sure...;

There is an 800 number on the pills. Call it and talk to the nurse at the other end of the line. Follow the manufacturer's recommendation.
If you do not have the package insert, call the drug store and get the pharmacist desk to give you the 800 number and call it.

What is your hurry? Take your time. One day will not make much difference. If it does to him, you have some things to talk about with him.
You two need to be open and trust eachother. If he doesn't know, he probably should. Do you trust him? If not why are you in bed with him?
Take your time and be sure it is right and that you are doing what you want in the long run.
Believe me 35 years from now, hurrying one day will not have made much good difference and in the light of eternity, waiting may be the best idea yet>

Actually the pill is about 97-98% effective against conception. Add a condom and you get another 1-1.5% In the long haul, so if you have sex for three years, 4 times a week and are accounting for accidents and mistakes due to the odds and prescription interactions and stress and human nature and eagerness, you could still possibly get pregnant 8 times in four years. Are you ready for that?

I agree with everyone, get at least a month in before having unprotected sex to ensure your body has adjusted.

Personally, I would still use a condom... its not just to help avoid getting preganant, more importantly, its to protect you from STDs.

Have protected sex for at LEAST a month. This will give your body enough time to build up the hormone levels and keep your body from producing eggs. I cant stress the AT LEAST a month before having unprotected sex.
