Depend on the job, but night shift isn't that bad. Some people can switch back and forth between days and nights on their days off. Personally I can't so sometimes I feel like I'm walking amongst the vampires, but it's a nice to be able to drive without any traffic. Do shopping with little or no lines. Night shifts are much more mellow and less demanding. Thankfully my gym is open 24 hours a day so I manage to stay much fitter when I work night shift. Gives me motivation to go to the gym when I'm bored.

Day shift. I like the 2 - 10 pm shifts better, but then that's just because of the company that I work for (dinner theater). By the time that I get home I'm still too keyed up from work to go to bed before 1 am. I'm just not a morning person - I never have been.

You get your days and nights mixed up and you can't ever be a morning person again. It has something to do with when your brain released cortisol and once you get it turned around you feel like crap if you try to live normal human hours. I worked nights with a lot of people who felt the same thing. I've been off nights for 4 years-changed companies and there was no night shift- and I have an awful time. I can't get to sleep until 3 or 4 am and then can't get up in the morning. I do as I have to but I feel terrible until about three in the afternoon and then I'm ready to rock and roll all night again and I'm on that same cycle. I'm working from home now so I can keep my crazy schedule but I miss a lot.

I prefer the day shift over the night.

I've mostly worked night shift, but I don't sleep well, so that's why. It's more taxing, I think, but usually it keeps you out of Direct Line of Customers, so that's nice. Also a lot of places pay extra for night shift which is also nice.

Night shift because you can't ever hang out with anyone because everyone else works during the day. Also, I never got anything accomplished because I would sleep late from getting home so late and then I wouldn't have time to devote to any project because I would have to get ready to go back to work.
