Our water heater is dead. Replacement won't come until Wednesday. Can I run the dishwasher with just cold water? I use Cascade/Dawn gel packs. Thanks

Most dishwashers have their own heating source already built in to the machine to detect water temperature. It will heat the water up to the manufacturers set points if it is too cold.
Also, I see you use gel packs. My reputable appliance sales and service dealer always tells me that gel washing soap will eventually plug up the water jets and etc. in a machine then you will have a whole new set of problems. I always use the dishwashing powders and highly recommend it myself. Check this idea out for yourself. Thank you.

most dishwashers have their own heating element, so it will be fine, just know that you will be paying for the electricy to heat the water
