I always have a roast dinner, usually roast beef or pork. I was told that if you eat well on new years day you will eat well for the rest of the year.

It's been said that the English drink only the finest Scottish tea on Thanksgiving and the townspeople all gather in the town square to get their portion of French bread from the Queen.

We don't really have a new years dinner! Maybe a roast or the boxing day dinner. Most of us are out though! Could be party food or a nice restaurant ranging from chinese, indian or mexican, italian etc

We usually have a buffet. Cold meats, salads, coleslaw, potatoe salad, etc, sausage rolls, canapys, etc, so easy to prepare for the Party night of the year, easy to handle with a drink in the other hand, and "dont come up too easily" either.

The family come to our house for a buffet. We all have a dinner at home, and then they come around to ours. We do pasta, salad, chicken, sliced meats. A platter of differant fish, indian bites, chinese bites. A bit of eveything to cater for everyone.

Roast chicken? Roast beef? It's up to each family nowadays. No fixed rules apply here.
