Head shots are just typically more fatal than any other wound, so when an assassin sets his mind to it, he's making sure that his plan succeeds, no matter how dispicable it is.

There were a lot of people who affected positive social change and didn't get shot in the head. There were a lot of people who tried to affect positive social changes and were killed in other ways. There were a lot of people who were shot in the head, even though they never tried to affect positive social change. Hitler tried to make the world a "better" place according to his definition of the word "better". He shot himself in the head. Stalin tried to make the world better according to his vision; he may have been poisoned, or just died of disease. George Washington made the world a much better place by setting the precident of peacefully handing over supreme executive power. He died old and reverred. Do you know how many winners of the Nobel peace prize died by a shot to the head? I don't, but I doubt it is all too many. Not much a of coincidence if you ask me.

Because whenever someone wants to make big changes, there is always someone who thinks the changes will be for the worst. Some people fear change, and these people are fighting for it.
