It's something I have to do for my Honors Argument & Debate class. Any sources for further studying would be appreciated!

Much love,
Jani

I am on the affirmative side...I didn't pick it, trust me...because this is a hard point to prove. It doesn't matter what type of movies they are; my teacher leaves that up to us to work with, giving us a lot of creative freedom and options. I hope this helps those of you who had questions!

My question would be movies for entertainment or movies that are based off of books?

In several of my classes, my professors would have us read the book or the story and then we would watch the movies in class and contrast and compare. That's more of a director vs. author argument, though. However, the justification for showing the movies, too, is that it helps to better the understanding of the cultural perspective (when the book was written vs. when the book takes place vs. when the movie was released).

I hope I didn't confuse you and that I gave you something to think about and maybe even a basis for an argument...

By the way, what side are you on?

Affirmative = Look for sources on revisionist history (that movies present history differently than it actually happened).

Negative = Look for souces on learning styles (some people will learn better from movies than books or lectures).

The don't, they actually make the kids think on issues. Educational movies actually break the kids focus. I'm not sure
