=Yes I always do that, I like to have the company come to a clean house. However, I think it is time for a change, I will try to tidy up the place get rid of the clutter and perhaps feather dust a little, and then will clean thoroughly when the company has left. I never look at the house if it has been cleaned when I am the visitor we generally either talk of the children and their accomplishments, or whatever is new in the house, or what improvements have been done. Perhaps their vacation or trip. Not how clean or unclean the house is.

I follow a cleaning routine - there's 8 of us living here (2 adults and 6 kids ranging from 18 - 7) - so every day we're cleaning - there's typically nothing that needs cleaning when company is coming - but a quick glance over shows if anything is out of place. All I would typically do is change the table setting to something more "formal" (i.e. not stain resistant like we use for daily meals) and add some fresh flowers.

I do a bit more thorough cleaning before company, but I try to keep up with the cleaning long before than anyway. I figure shouldn't I enjoy a clean house as much as company?

Only clean what is obvious. Like the bathroom, and a dusting of furniture in rooms that will be seen, and a brief vacuuming Make sure to pick up papers, and magazines. I don't do a thorough cleaning because I don't want to stress

I almost make myself sick over cleaning for company. It's silly I know.

Every time, no matter what time of year, if I know someone is coming over. Espeically vacuuming up the dog hair. GROSS.

I try to if I know they are coming, however, I always pick up as I go daily, then I usually don't have much to worry about.
