I'm having surgery tomarrow ( not major ) just on my ankle, but I've never had surgery before, and I might have to wait in the surgical waiting room by myself!

I wait in the Lobby with Mom & Dad, then go to other room by myself, and go in by myself. I know they can't be in the area where they perform the surgery, but I'm SO scared tha I'm going to get hurt.

I know the Surgeon is a pro, and I'll be under Anestisia Omigod what if I don't wake up?!?!?! I don't want to have surgery :( :(

'm 13

Surgery is scary - no doubt. I had my first a little over a year ago and I was really anxious. Your parents will probably be able to wait with you while you get your IV put in and you change into whatever you wear to have surgery. They usually get the family out when they give the first part of the anesthesia and then before you know it, you're in recovery. Try not to be too anxious and I hope everything works out great for you. If you're in pain post-surgery, let the nurse know so they can give you something to help before you leave.

First off your mother and dad can probably wait with you in the surgical waiting room until it is time for you to go. Second you will wake up from surgery trust me. Once you are in recovery and wake up your parents will be right with you. Surgery is scary the first time but it doens't have to be. When you get to a part or place where you are nervous or scared take some deep breathes and tell the nurse or whoever you are with that you are nervous or scared and they will explain things to you. Before you know it you will be awake and you parents will be right with you.

Ive never had surgery either... and if i had to i would also be terrified. Everyone gets scared. Just think about the millions of surgerys each day that happen which are alot worse then your ankle surgery. Before you know it, the surgery will be over! Good luck!

This is completely normal---anyone would be afraid at any age. The fact that you trust your doctor is good. They will take very good care of you.

Try to breathe deep and visualize everything going great. Tomorrow at this time this will be over, your ankle will be getting better and the holidays are around the corner! You'll probably get extra love and attention and lots of praise for being so brave and grown up about this.

You'll be OK! Good luck honey!

I've been anaesthetised. It's no biggie. It's a weird feeling of lost time. It's not like going to sleep. When you wake up you feel like it's 8 hours later. With this it's like you blink and you find yourself in another room.

Don't sweat it. The risk is SSSSSOOOOOOO low. Thousands of people go under every year. You were probably at more risk doing what ever injured the ankle in the first place.

Try not to worry. I know easier said than done. But the doctors know what they are doing. And it is very safe.
They will take good care of you.

Ask the doctors, if your parents can be with you.
I live in England, and my sister had an operation. And Mum stayed with her until she was asleep.

YES YOU WILL WAKE UP

Don't worry you will be fine, and this time tomorrow it will all be over.

Take care. I will be thinking of you.

its fine..they'll take u in yea..u'll be by urself for a lil bit while they get all ur baselines..then they'll call in your parents to sit with u until they take u to the operating room. but u can just ask them to sedate you before you go into the operating room..to make it less anxious. u'll be fine....problems with anesthesia dont occur often and in the situations you do..there are plenty of people monitoring you. i had my first surgery on my b-day two years ago for a growth on my neck. u'll be fine..all its like is a quick nap

You should be alright. Follow every reasonable instruction that the surgeons give you.
