First of all if you've checked that the monitor is still plugged to electricity and won't work, I recommend you to take it to a specialist, so it will give you a solution.

First, try connecting your monitor to a known good PC, possibly the old laptop you are using now. If the monitor works, the problem is with the video card in your PC. If the monitor does not come on, it is the monitor. It is usually cheaper to purchase a new monitor than to have an old one repaired, unless the monitor is still under warranty.

Try plugging a known good monitor to your PC. If the monitor works, your old monitor is fried and needs to be replaced.

If Your monitor works when connected to another PC, the problem could be your video card. First, then you turn on your PC, do the power supply and case cooling fans run. If they dont, it could be the power supply.

Next, open the computer case. Before you do anything inside, unplug the power.

IMPORTANT!! Touch any metal portion of the computer case to ground yourself to the PC. The slightest static spark can destroy computer circuits.

If the video card is the card type that pluggs into a slot on the motherboard, remove the retaining screw or fastener at the top of the card, carefully remove the card, handling the card by the edges as to not disturb the circuits on the card, and re-install the card. Sometimes simply reseating the card corrects the problem.

If that doesn't work, replace the video card with a similar type card. Maybe now is a good time for a video card upgrade.

If the video card is integrated into the motherboard, you can only install a new card into one of the PCI slots on the motherboard. When the PC boots for the first time, go into bios and disable the onboard video card.

Yes it's your computer either the memory has gone or your graphics card as given up try another monitor on yours if it does the same switch off the power open it up and give the memory a slight push to make sure it asn't moved do the same for the graphics card then turn it on and put your ear near the hard drive to make sure it's spinning if not then it's the drive that's gone try a different hard drive let me know how you got on mate email from profile.

Monitor Wont Turn On

The monitor or display of a computer is the primary user interface. Monitor problems are some of the most common computer problems since the voltages inside a monitor can be as high as 10 KV. Many of the problems can be fixed yourself by simply changing the settings. Detailed instructions available at http://fixit.in/monitor.html

Did you double check the power connection on the back of the monitor? Does your computer make a series of beeps while it is trying to start up?

If computer is beeping multiple times, try reseating your video card.

ryan5439 - Man you need to drop a hair dryer in your bath water while your in there...

As far as your question sweetheart:

Screens can not turn on for a few reasons...

#1 It is just bad. If this is the case just get a new one. The proce on them are droping so fast you will be beter off and most places dont service them.

#2 If your computer savy you can try this. Open your computer case and remove all the PCI cards ( The video card, sound, network, modem, and the little watch battery on the main board.) then you put them all into the same spot( REMEMBER WHERE YOU TOOK THEM OUT FROM) and turn on the computer. turn it back on.

#3 Same as #2 BUT Before you put all the cards back in just put the battery in and turn it on if it comes on it was one of the cards causing it. If this works start by putting the cards back in one by one ( TURNING THE COMPUTER ON AND OFF AFTER EACH ONE to see what card was causing it.)

I really hope this helps.

And to everyone who just post stupid answers.... Get a life.

If your old moniter was an LCd (the real thin kind) then its a possibility it burnt out. Happend to me just like that. It showed no signs or anything. I had to buy a new moniter eventually.
