You actually mean "decimeters", yes?
A decimeter is one tenth of a meter...while a millimeter is 1/1000th of a meter.
There's 5 decimeters to 500 millimeters.

Meaningless!! A deciliter is a measure of volume equal to 1/10 of a liter and a millimeter is a measure of length equal to 1/1000 of a meter. Try rephrasing your question.

500 millimeters in 5 decimeters.

I assume you have a typo in the question.

You have mixed volume and length measurements here.

Deciliters are 1/10 of a liter, approximately equal to 100 cubic centimeters, each one of which is 1000 cubic millimeters.

All this is available in any conversion table.

did you mean deciliters, and if so, you can't convert, they are two different units, one for volume, one for distance.
